DAVID BLANK for IN House of Representatives DISTRICT #99

The Indianapolis Tea Party is pleased to feature David Blank (R) as our "Candidate of the Week".  We initially became acquainted with David when he and his wife Julia became active members of the Indianapolis Tea Party Steering Committee in 2009.  David's wisdom, attentive ears to others' ideas and needs, and his "easy" disposition give him the perfect "bedside manner" to represent those who reside in the 99th district.

BIOGRAPHY: Dr. David Blank got his start in politics after being a member of the local Tea Party movement.  With his medical background he was asked to give several talks last summer about healthcare reform.  He saw the need for someone to run in his district against 18-year incumbent Vanessa Summers, who describes herself as "very liberal".  David Blank stepped up to the plate.

A board certified emergency physician, David has practiced medicine in Indiana for the past 14 years.  He is a partner of a small business that provides emergency medicine services to the St. Francis hospital system.  He is serving his second term on the board of directors for the Indiana chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (InACEP), a group that champions ideas that improve emergency care.

David has strong family roots on the Indianapolis west side, as he is a fourth-generation graduate of Ben Davis High School. His family settled on a Wayne township farm in 1851, and his grandfather was in the first graduating class at Ben Davis.  David ran track and field and competed in the "Little 500" Bicycle Race while earning his BS Degree at Indiana University. He received his medical degree at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri, and completed his emergency medicine residency in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

David and his wife Julia (campaign coordinator, optometrist, mother, & Tea Party organizer) have been married for sixteen years.  They have four boys aged 6, 4, 4, and 3.

As a husband, father, doctor, and small business owner, David knows that to bring jobs to our community, we must lower taxes on individuals and businesses, make government more efficient and accountable, and create options and choices to produce the highest quality education for our children.

NOTE:  The Indianapolis Tea Party does not officially endorse candidates.  However, as part of our mission we strive to educate the public by presenting information about candidates whose values and public service records parallel our mission statement.
