Press Release: Indiana Patriot Coalition Supports Repealing Health Care Law through Discharge Petition

Indiana Patriot Coalition Asks Current Members of Congress and 2010 House Candidates to Sign Discharge Petition to Repeal the Health Care Law 

INDIANAPOLIS IN— The Indiana Patriot Coalition, made up of a half dozen liberty groups, has taken on a grassroots initiative that will focus on repealing the recently passed health care law.  Rep. Steve King (R-IA) recently filed a discharge petition - Discharge Petition No. 11 - a special measure that would require the U.S. House of Representatives to vote to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Over 150 lawmakers have signed the petition, including 2 representatives from Indiana, Mike Pence and Dan Burton. 

The Indiana Patriot Coalition will put fire to the feet of those representatives that choose not to support repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Conversely, we will thank those representatives who choose to support repeal of the same.  To date, those representatives who have chosen not to support repeal of the newly passed law are as follows:  Peter Visclosky (D), Joe Donnelly (D), Steve Buyer (R), Andre Carson (D), Brad Ellsworth (D), and Baron Hill (D). 

A recent Rasmussen poll shows that 60% of voters nationwide favor repeal of the recently passed health care law.   For those Representatives that choose not to listen to the majority of Americans and Hoosiers, we will hold them accountable, continuously through all our social networking outlets in Indiana and nationwide through the Indiana Patriot Coalition and on Election Day, November 2, 2010.  We are urging all representatives who have NOT signed the discharge petition to reconsider and choose to do what is right, in accordance with the Constitution and what is right for the American People.

In addition, as part of this grassroots project, the Indiana Patriot Coalition will continue to educate citizens on this Constitutional mechanism that can be used to repeal the healthcare law.

The “Tea Party” / liberty / patriot groups joining forces to take on this grassroots project that will focus on the repeal of the health care law include:   Grant County Tea Party, Kosciusko County Silent NO More, Tea Party of Lake County, Michiana 912 Group, Concerned Citizens of Michiana, The Liberty Coalition and the Indianapolis Tea Party.

We are asking current Members of Congress to sign a Pledge, agreeing to work tirelessly and choose to repeal the health care law.  The Pledge states they will urge their fellow Members of Congress to do same, and they will sponsor and co-sponsor legislation which will repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care act entirely.   We are also asking 2010 House Candidates to sign the Pledge and agree to the same, if elected to office.
